Happy Thanksgiving from Pinkham Notch! The photo above was taken yesterday looking at Hillman's Highway in Tuckerman Ravine! We would like to say a huge Thank You to our visitors, guests, members and volunteers; you make it possible for us to
promote the protection, understanding, and enjoyment of the incredible
This morning before our Thanksgiving dinner here at Pinkham Notch I was able to get a quick hike up to Square Ledge (picture to the right), which is a fantastic 1 mile round trip hike with spectacular views! This morning the mountains were still socked in, which means more SNOW! In Tuckerman Ravine in the past 24 hours they received 4" of snow, and the summit of Mt. Washington got 8.7"!
The current trail conditions here in Pinkham Notch have a couple of inches of fresh powder with ice underneath, so light traction is required. If you staying at our Joe Dodge Lodge or the Highland Center you can demo our traction devices for free! We also have them for sale at our stores if you would like to purchase them after trying them out.
We have had over a hundred guests and visitors today for our annual Thanksgiving dinner! Tomorrow we are offering guided walks by our AMC Naturalists and Volunteers at 9am and 1pm. The NH Chapter is offering a 'Black Friday' hike, check out our chapter events for listings in your area, we have chapters from Maine to Washington D.C!
Many of the nearby ski resorts including Wildcat Mountain will be open tomorrow for skiing! They have been making snow since early this morning and the weather conditions are looking good for this weekend! Please make sure to check out the summits and valley forecasts
on the Mt. Washington Observatory weather website, as well as the AMC Conditions page that also has the conditions at our huts and lodges!
